Job Summary

The Journeyman Carpenter will play a hands-on role in the construction and installation of panelized building systems in both our factory and on-site environments. Reporting to the Lead Carpenter, this position involves performing framing, renovations, and demolition tasks while maintaining high standards of safety, craftsmanship, and efficiency. The Journeyman will support production workflows, collaborate with the construction team, and assist in the continual improvement of panelized building systems.

Key Responsibilities

Factory Work

  • Fabricate timber panels (walls, floors, and roofs) according to detailed technical drawings and blueprints
  • Operate saws, nail guns, and other tools with care and precision
  • Assist with routine maintenance of tools and equipment
  • Conduct quality checks to ensure panels meet structural and aesthetic standards
  • Work closely with the production team to ensure smooth workflows and adherence to timelines

On-Site Work

  • Assemble and install pre-fabricated panels on job sites under the direction of the Lead Carpenter
  • Perform framing, sheathing, demolition, and finishing carpentry tasks
  • Maintain site safety and cleanliness, including safe handling of tools and materials
  • Assist in the renovation and demolition process, ensuring work aligns with specifications

Collaboration & Communication

  • Support the Lead Carpenter in interpreting project drawings and translating them into build tasks
  • Provide input on constructability and offer ideas for improving techniques and workflows
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with team members, supervisors, and tradespeople

Safety & Quality

  • Follow all safety protocols, including PPE use, hazard identification, and tool handling
  • Commit to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized workspace
  • Adhere to building codes, project standards, and company quality expectations
  • Take pride in delivering precise, consistent work that reflects the values of the company

Qualifications

  • Red Seal Certification or equivalent Journeyman Certification in Carpentry (or working toward completion)
  • 3+ years of hands-on carpentry experience (off-site and/or on-site preferred)
  • Proficient in reading blueprints and construction drawings
  • Familiar with power tools, factory workflows, and site protocols
  • Experience in timber construction, renovations, or demolition work is a strong asset
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Technical Knowledge

  • Solid understanding of framing, finishing, and panelized systems
  • Basic knowledge of construction safety regulations and building codes
  • Familiarity with Off-Site/Factory-based building is an asset

  • Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship
  • Ability to follow instructions and collaborate within a team
  • Effective time management and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable using various tools and equipment

Abilities

  • Physically capable of lifting, climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods
  • Willingness to work in both indoor (factory) and outdoor (on-site) environments
  • Positive attitude and adaptability in a fast-paced, evolving work setting

Work Environment

  • Factory: Indoor environment with exposure to tools, machinery, and plumbing/HVAC materials.
  • On-Site: Outdoor construction sites with exposure to varying weather, dust, and noise.

Company Benefits:

  • Group Benefits Plan – with expenses shared 50% by the Company and 50% by the Employee

  • Vacation time: Starting with 2 Weeks/yr with additional time off to be determined by mutual agreement between employer and employee

Compensation:

  • Starting wage of $28-$36/hr (Bi-weekly)
  • Travel allowance and/or use of company vehicle to be determined by mutual agreement between the employer and employee
  • Bonus pay opportunities, with competitive industry salaries
  • Compensation to be further discussed with potential candidate
