Job Summary

The Plumbing & HVAC Lead will oversee the installation and integration of plumbing and HVAC systems in modular panelized construction projects. This role requires expertise in designing, installing, and optimizing these systems both in the factory and on-site. The ideal candidate will manage junior plumbers and HVAC technicians, ensuring quality, compliance, and efficiency. They should also be capable of thinking creatively to solve challenges unique to modular construction.

Key Responsibilities

Factory Work

  • Plan and integrate plumbing and HVAC systems into modular panels during factory assembly.
  • Collaborate with the design team to optimize layouts and ensure system compatibility with panelized construction techniques.
  • Install plumbing and HVAC components, including piping, hydronic systems, and units, within modular sections.
  • Test and inspect factory-installed systems to ensure functionality, safety, and compliance with standards.
  • Provide feedback on designs to improve system efficiency and ease of on-site installation.

On-Site Work

  • Oversee the installation and final connection of plumbing and HVAC systems during the assembly of modular buildings.
  • Coordinate with electricians, carpenters, and other trades to ensure seamless integration of systems.
  • Manage connections to external water, sewer, and HVAC services for completed buildings.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and repair work as needed to address issues during installation or final inspections.

Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and manage junior plumbers and HVAC technicians during factory and on-site operations.
  • Provide training to team members to enhance their skills in modular plumbing and HVAC installations.
  • Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure adherence to project timelines and quality standards.

Innovation and Problem-Solving

  • Develop creative solutions to challenges in integrating plumbing and HVAC systems within modular construction.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve system performance.
  • Stay informed about advancements in plumbing, HVAC, and modular construction techniques to implement best practices.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Plumber and/or HVAC Technician (Red Seal certification or equivalent required).
  • 5+ years of experience in plumbing and HVAC installation; experience in modular or prefabricated construction is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of plumbing and HVAC codes, standards, and best practices.
  • Experience interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and system schematics.
  • Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge

  • Advanced understanding of plumbing and HVAC systems, including installation, maintenance, and optimization.
  • Familiarity with modular or panelized construction processes and techniques.

Skills

  • Proficient in the use of plumbing and HVAC tools and equipment.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills for managing teams and collaborating with stakeholders.

Abilities

  • Ability to think creatively and solve complex problems related to system integration in modular construction.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
  • Capable of working in both controlled factory settings and outdoor construction environments.

Work Environment

  • Factory: Indoor environment with exposure to tools, machinery, and plumbing/HVAC materials.
  • On-Site: Outdoor construction sites with exposure to varying weather, dust, and noise.

  • Vacation time: Starting with 2 Weeks/yr with additional time off to be determined by mutual agreement between employer and employee

Compensation:

  • Starting wage of $32-$40/hr (Bi-weekly)
  • Travel allowance and/or use of company vehicle to be determined by mutual agreement between the employer and employee
  • Bonus pay opportunities, with competitive industry salaries
  • Compensation to be further discussed with potential candidate
